Transportation Industry Human Trafficking Prevention Toolkit

Human trafficking is a business, and just like all businesses it involves transportation systems. Human trafficking also uses these same systems to recruit victims as well as transport them quickly. This includes bus stops, airports, truck stops and any place people land while in transition. Using transportation hubs helps traffickers find people who are vulnerable as well as market what they are selling or transport victims quickly and anonymously to other areas or countries for exploitation. Access to transportation is also a key element of a victim escaping a trafficking situation.

That’s why those who work in transportation, like truck drivers, airport employees and bus station workers are on the front line in the fight to stop trafficking. It’s equally important for people passing through travel hubs to know the signs and what to do if they spot suspicious behavior. The tools and training below help raise awareness and provide guidance for how to identify and stop human trafficking, whether you work in transportation or are just a traveler passing through. Your actions and awareness can make a difference.
