The Intersection of Human Trafficking and Persons with Disabilities
Without adequate social accommodations and supports to create equity, persons with disabilities may be vulnerable to exploitation, including human trafficking. Vulnerabilities may include a lack of access to human trafficking awareness training, legal and victims’ rights advocacy, mental health education and services, societal isolation, and economic support resources as well as challenges with reporting abuse, all of which increase the risk of exploitation. This program will examine the intersection of human trafficking and disability rights work and what service providers and communities can do to take action.
