The health needs and healthcare experiences of young people trafficked into the UK

Report on a UK study that aimed into the healthcare needs of trafficked young people. 29 young people aged between 16-21 years were interviewed alongside a range of professionals working with them. Many of the group had experienced sexual violence even if they had been trafficked for domestic servitude; physical violence was common, as were high levels of psychological distress and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Concludes that healthcare professionals need to recognise and respond to the complex mental health needs of trafficked young people.
