Sierra Leone’s Child Soldiers: War Exposures and Mental Health Problems by Gender

The aims of this analysis were threefold: (1) to compare the war experiences of male and female children, including witnessing of violence, direct involvement in war activities and
combat, and experience of rape; (2) to examine the differences between psychosocial
outcomes of male and female child soldiers post conflict; (3) to examine the moderating
effects of gender on the relationship between war experiences and psychosocial adjustment.
