Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings: Victims’ Rights

The main added value of the Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings is its focus on human rights and the protection of victims. The convention defines rafficking as a violation of human rights and an offence to the dignity and integrity of the human being. This means that the national authorities are held responsible if they do not take action to prevent human trafficking, protect victims and effectively investigate trafficking cases.  This leaflet provides an overview of victim services advocated for in the convention.
