A New Frontier: Human Trafficking and ISIS’s Recruitment of Women from the West
This resource is interesting in that it frames the recruitment of Western women by ISIS as human trafficking in some instances. The short report goes over how young women (often under the age of 18) are recruited by ISIS online, and upon arrival in ISIS territories, can be sexually exploited or forced into marriage. The author applies the definition of human trafficking to the exploitation and possible slavery that takes place when women leave their home countries to become a part of the terrorist organization. The author also provides recommendations to the international community and states on prevention of this form of human trafficking.
