This report by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime is the first attempt to close the knowledge gap on human trafficking. Additionally, the report also includes recommendations, based on the UN Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons. Since the protocol is about prevention, protection, and prosecution, recommendations concluded in the following three suggestions: reduce demand of cheap goods manufactured by bonded laborer, target criminals who prey on the vulnerability of people trying to escape from poverty, hunger, and unemployment, and lastly, increase protection to people especially women and children.
