Human Trafficking, It’s Closer Than You Think
When you think of trafficking, you often immediately think of sex trafficking, but that’s only half of the equation. Human trafficking is divided into two categories: sex trafficking, and human trafficking. Immigrant Food’s Téa Ivanovic delves deeper into this issue for this month’s Think Table.
January is human trafficking awareness month, an issue that disproportionally affects immigrants who are often afraid to report their traffickers due to fear of being deported. Most immigrants come to the U.S. on a visa that is tied to their employer, and leaving an abusive situation can result in loss of legal immigration status.
